Meigs Lodge 213 was
charted October 11, 1851.
Stated Meeting is 1st Monday at 7pm.
We practice all other Mondays at 7pm.
The first
meeting of Meigs Lodge was held on March 2, 1851 with Brother D. S. Godsey as the Worshipful Master. On October 1, 1855
there were 38 members and the per capita tax was 25 cents per member and dues were 25 cents per quarter. The last recorded
meeting of the lodge before the Civil War was February 1, 1859. The original charter was taken by Federal troops and
a replacement charter was isssued on December 6, 1866. At least 6 Brothers of Meigs Lodge died during the civil war,
some of them fighting for the Confederate Army and some fighting for the Union Army, but they were still Brothers. A
new building was built in 1869 and served until 1956 when our present building was built on the same site. The ground
floor has been used for such things as a school, church, funeral home, and post office.
